Organic Sprouted Almonds
Our almonds are a cut above the rest. Here's why:
Organic – We source organic almonds that have never been treated with toxic pesticides or herbicides.
Raw – Raw almonds contain lots of enzymes and vitamins that are great for our bodies. But when they are baked, roasted or steamed, most of those beneficial compounds are destroyed. That's why we never heat our almonds above 118°F.
Did you know that "raw" US-grown almonds are actually steam pasteurized? Pasteurization reaches temperatures well above 118°F, which means most of the enzymes and vitamins in US almonds have been destroyed. To ensure that our almonds are truly raw and nutrient-dense, we choose to source them from Italy and Spain instead.
Sprouted – We sprout (or "activate") our almonds in small batches. Sprouting is the time-honored practice of soaking nuts in water to reduce their naturally occurring phytic acids, tannins and enzyme inhibitors. This results in a nut that is much easier to digest, with enzymes and vitamins that our bodies can easily absorb.
Dehydrated – After soaking and sprouting, we gently dehydrate our almonds at 118°F. This preserves their nutrients, enhances their natural sweetness and gives them a delightfully crisp texture!
Almonds are a tree nut high in monounsaturated fats that can decrease LDL cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. A small handful provides 6 grams of protein, 37% of our daily vitamin E, 32% of our daily manganese and 20% of our daily magnesium. Almonds are reported to improve brain health, stabilize blood sugar levels, support heart function, nourish and improve skin and support immune system function.
Sprouted almonds are an alkaline-forming food, good for balancing the pH level of the body. After sprouting, almonds contain significantly less phytic acid (a substance that binds to minerals and prevents our bodies from absorbing them).
